She began working the box office and excelled at management efforts at Bucks Twin, Premiere Twin, and the Andorra 6 theaters. While at the Andorra 6 she was able to meet Stanley Durwood, AMC's founder. Another matter of pride for Betty was teaching Booth School, the wherefores and why hows of running the projection booth.

Betty excels at promotional efforts making movies fun for the community with games, contests, and lots of prizes. She also works to benefit her community and has been an asset in working with the March of Dimes, the Alzheimer's Association, and the United Way of Sevier County. Betty is a movie and a cat lover. "Of course movies are a large part of my life, but in particular period films are my favorites. Whether the story is fiction or truth, to be taken to another time and be given a glimpse of how things were is truly marvelous. Amadeus, Schindler's List, Out of Africa, Elizabeth, The Last Emperor if I had a Top Ten list, all of these great period films would be there. Top 10 for me, however, is impossible. I might be able to make a Top 50 list&emdash;then again maybe not."
